Art OHARA International Exhibition – A global artistic exchange in Kyoto, connecting Ohara, with artists from around the world.
Art OHARA 2025 will open June 3 (Tue) to June 22 (Sun), 2025 and is installed in two venues in the beautiful scenic valley in Sakyo Ward.
The exhibition committee invited both Japanese and international artists, with a particular focus on foreign artists residing in Kyoto.
The event will be hosted at two venues, the Ohara Cultural Center and the AIR Ohara Gallery (formerly Sanzenin-do) renowned for its traditional Japanese architectural charm, providing a unique backdrop for artistic expression. This exhibition was conceived and organized by the artist Ms. Nobuko Ueda, a resident of Ohara.
Jorie will exhibit her「My Rising Sun Within」series of smaller triangular format felt mats or wall works (2024) and larger format rugs (2025). The wools used are from various countries from around the world, such as Turkey, So. Africa, Finland, Australia, and others. There are a variety of natural color wools from coarse “rug” breeds and acid-dyed +/or color-blended areas to coordinate comfortably with subdued, as well as, modern concrete and glass interiors.
