Dip Dyed Party Scarf
This project demonstrates how fine wool fiber readily pierces sheer fabrics during the entangling process and actually joins two pieces of fabric together with non-felting “party streamers”, nylon filament Lurex caught in between.
Honeycomb Scarf
I developed this project in 2003 during a one-month hospital stay when I realized that the mind must keep moving even if the hips need to stay put for a while. Using various odds and ends of leftover novelty yarns and hospital equipment, and with the loyal aid of one assistant Atsuko Ikuno, I managed to turn a private room into a studio away from home, and so created this scarf.
Due to its unique construction, the inside colors can be seen − a stunning effect that prompts many admirers to ask, “Is that knitted or crocheted?”
The answer to which is a big “No!”
