I want to thank everybody who was able to come to my recent exhibitions. Briefly, I will update on those venues before getting into this year's schedule. ❄️
NYC: 9th New York Textile Month
クロスロード:繊維の交差点
The three internationally recognized textile artists show turned into an exciting 4-person exhibition, including Nino Kipshidze (Tbilisi), Ana Lisa Hedstrom (San Francisco), Jorie Johnson (Kyoto), and Mary Jaeger (New York City). The high ceiling exhibition space was generously provided by Design in Textiles by Mary Jaeger, a Brooklyn atelier, in celebration with the 9th NYTM 2024.
Osaka Yomiuri TV
Jorie was asked to contribute educational information and motif sampling of the Kasen rug no.15, to the Yomiuri Osaka television program covering The 76th Annual Exhibition of Shosoin-in Treasures at the Nara National Museum.
Among the various beautiful objects on display, the Yomiuri TV producer was excited to include the rare felt carpets.
At the end of 2024 Jorie was included in Omamori Good Luck Charm exhibition produced by Maronie Gallery.
The instructions were to make an object that would fit into the size of your left hand. I asked myself about the size of my right hand...?
The meaning was related to common Buddha statues, wherein they generally are holding some special object in the left hand while giving you a powerful “metta high-five” with the right.
