New Publication from Spinnuts Shuppan Press that includes two works from the Joi Rae Textile Studio


This text covers the wide range of felt production from historical nomadic finds to contemporary industrial applications, as well as, the expressive use of felt in contemporary textiles. Work from Joi Rae Textiles is included and excerpts from email communications between Jorie and the author.

In conjunction with the 8th ISS, HKDI presented the exhibition Animal Fiber: Art Informs Shibori (13 December 2011 to 14 January 2012), curated by Jorie Johnson and Jean Cacicedo. Daisy Zhong reports how this exhibition revealed how an ancient technoque has grown into an art form revered by couturiers and a new medium of experimentation across the boards. J. Johnson and C.
