After nine years of research work examining the entire collection of Tang Dynasty felt Kasen housed in the Shōsō-in Repository, Nara, the JoiRae Textiles replica portion Kasen #17, including various motif samples of Kasen #6 from this studio, were installed during the 72nd annual Treasures exhibition.
Here is my final Japanese essay, printed in the Bulletin of Office of the Shosoin Treasure House No. 42, 2020, reporting the most imperative information about the collection and the feltmaking techniques involved.
The video below, produced by JoiRae Textiles, and filmed and edited by Yuya J. Morimoto, briefly explains our process, and was shown for the 40,000 visitors attending the annual autumn 2020 exhibition.
